Dr. Anne-Marie Zajdlik

I encouraged Anne-Marie to run for MP because she’ll be a strong, independent voice in Ottawa. Just as she helped lead our community through the pandemic, she’ll use her office to address healthcare shortages, the housing affordability crisis, and the climate emergency.

I am excited to endorse Anne-Marie as MP for Guelph, and I am energized thinking about what Anne-Marie and I can accomplish together. We are headed towards a majority Liberal government. The Liberals don’t need Guelph to hold off a Conservative win. Here in Guelph, Conservative support is flat: they have not elected anyone in 22 years. No one needs to vote out of fear.

Liberals govern best when there are strong progressive and environmental voices holding them accountable. As an independent Green MP, Anne-Marie Zajdlik will deliver for Guelph, just like what I’m able to accomplish at Queen’s Park. Let’s think Double Green for Guelph!

I have known Dr. Zajdlik personally and professionally for over 30 years. Anne-Marie exemplifies what it means to be a responsible global and local citizen. She is a fiercely compassionate individual who prioritizes human welfare, dignity, and the potential of every person. Dr. Zajdlik is ethical and strongly believes in the importance of social justice, environmental sustainability, and human rights.

I have witnessed Anne-Marie during her most private moments, feeling deeply emotional as she cries for a patient who is suffering, frustrated by the ineffective global response to those affected by HIV/AIDS, and disheartened about the future of our youth. For Anne-Marie, these experiences serve as a powerful call to action.

Why do I support Anne-Marie? She embodies the qualities of a true leader, possessing unwavering integrity and a remarkable commitment to action. In these turbulent times, when uncertainty looms and many of us are anxious about the well-being of our families and communities, I wholeheartedly endorse Dr. Zajdlik. Her vision and dedication inspire me, and I would confidently follow anywhere she leads. We need her.

Anne-Marie Zjajdlik would be an excellent MP. She is highly intelligent and has a charming and energetic personality. She is very well informed on health policy and environmental issues (climate change) and would have more impact on policy development than the other candidates, both externally and within the parliamentary committee structure.

She is an excellent public speaker and is very tuned to communication. During the COVID crisis she wrote a public daily blog discussing the virus, prevention of infection, and many other COVID and health policy related issues. She works well with others, a crucial characteristic for an effective MP.

Anne Marie embodies care mongering and has demonstrated her commitment to the health of the global community. Her calm, clear leadership during the pandemic made a direct impact on my ability to lead *my* team of 150 healthcare providers and provide timely, useful information for my patients.

I have known Dr Zajdlik for a number of years as a colleague in the Rotary Club of Guelph. She is truly an amazing medical doctor, community leader and person. I was especially impressed with the role she played during the recent COVID pandemic in calming our community while responding practically to the urgent needs before us. Her leadership in Bracelets of Hope has been truly inspiring and demonstrates her commitment to serving people in need. I have no hesitation in fully supporting her as she transitions to the challenge of representing Guelph as our Green MP.

As we all know this election is a critically important one for Canada. Donald Trump is overturning decades of democratic principles and rules based trade relations. With the harm that will be done to our economy and risks to our sovereignty, our social and environmental programs are at even greater risk. It appears that the Liberals under Mark Carney are going to sweep the election. There are clear threats to the environment and particularly our climate program – a trans-Canada oil pipeline may be in the cards, there is talk of limiting environmental assessments, more mines – everything under the name of boosting the economy.

We need progressive climate oriented MPs who will prevent Carney from viewing life only through the economic lens, excluding environmental and indigenous concerns. Guelph elected Mike Schreiner as our Green MPP. If everyone who voted for Mike votes for Anne-Marie we will have a new Green MP in Guelph. That’s what I’m doing.
